WHAT LONGEVITY COSTS YOU.

 

There is a common train of thought that eating organic foods are more expensive than eating not so good foods, well, like eating at McDonalds. It is AMAZINGLY cheap to eat at the Golden Arches. You can get A LOT of food for not all that much money. But is going to a fast food place like that REALLY the best 'deal' for you?

 

UNDER THE GOLDEN ARCHES

I have not eaten at a fast food place in years, and only do so when traveling. I don't eat there as I never really feel good afterwards. I may feel full, but not good. And now I know why. Take a look at this article and see some of the things that HAPPEN to you when you eat at McDs. (EAT).

 

I'LL HAVE A SIDE OF INFLAMMATION PLEASE

A consistent eating program that is built upon foods that will chronically inflame your nervous system, your body,can ONLY have negative consequences. You may not feel that inflammation at the time of the meal, but that slow burn WILL add up. No doubt about it.

 

THE DIGESTIVE PROBLEMS

We used to joke to ourselves that the hamburgers from the fast food places always ran right through us, and caused cramps, and sometimes some urgency...

With the amount of fats, salts, and even more fats tossed into the foods, your digestive system gets overloaded and that doesn't always end in a great way.

 

IF I HAD ASKED ANTHONY BOURDAIN

I saw Anthony Bourdain speak in Syracuse years ago. I would have loved to ask him 'do other countries have a staple soup like a minestrone?'. I ask that as other countries don't have the access to mega grocery stores like we do in America, yet they have less health care costs, live longer, and have far less health concerns. One of my GO TO soups is a simple minestrone with fresh, inexpensive vegetables in its' own broth, and some home made bread. Inexpensive AND just great to eat.

 

LET'S GET MOVING

We also see that about 18% of Americans go to gyms or spas. Of that, approximately 49% attend at least 2x/week. So that means that only about 9% of Americans are going to a gym regularly. Even more interesting is that nearly 60% of Americans walk on a regular basis. Sometimes for mental/emotional release, somethimes for conversation and friend time, or maybe just to get out, get moving, and walk the dog. The benefits of consistant walking CAN NOT be overlooked. Inexpensive. GREAT for you. What is crazy about walking is that YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO IT, and you need no special clothes, you can go RIGHT NOW.

 

EFFECTIVE. COST EFFECTIVE. REASONABLE.

Switching out some foods for newer, healthier foods, and even discontinuing some fo the not so healthy heabits we have can profound positive effects on us that can lead to, and last for decades.

 

It's not that hard. It IS different, but not hard.

Start with the small things first and then work up to more.
