OUR LONGEVITY ARTICLES OF THE WEEK:  April 4, 2025

SEEING INTO YOUR LONGEVITY FUTURE

I am asked on an almost regular basis what tests do I do, or recommend to see into your longevity future.

Too be honest, I don't think there are many that can do that. And the ones that are touted to be able to see into your longevity future many times comes with a product, pill, or supplement to be quickly advertisted to you.

WE START WITH YOU

I do think that there is one test that is greatly over looked by the longevity leaders that has been published in numerous medical arenas to show that when using this testing, it can show substantial amounts of information about you. And some of that information is really quite interesting. But the testing starts by asking your nervous system if you are able to ADAPT. The test is called Heart Rate Variability.

THE BEAR IN THE ROOM

If a bear were to walk into your room right this moment, what would your heart rate do? Jump off the charts of course - and that is NORMAL for that situation. And if we switched the snarling bear for Winnie the Pooh, your heart rate would of course go down. And that is NORMAL for that situation. But what if your heart rate did NOT go down in the second case? Then you would stay in that 'fight, flight or freeze' frame that is a part of sympathetic overdrive. And THAT is bad. If your foot is on the gas pedal, revving your engine, you burn up your fuel while not accomplishing anything. Except making just a ton of fumes.

BEING ABLE TO ADAPT IS KEY

It is not as important to GET to the fight, flight, or freeze posture, but to be able to GET TO IT, and then OUT OF IT. You have to be able to adapt to the situations your are in. Staying in that sympathetic overdrive for months, and then years, has been shown to have a number of serious consequences.

WE TEST IT

I have used the test to measure your nervous system adaptability, HEART RATE VARIABILITY, for 20 years, and have been published using this technology. (see article here: ARTICLEThis test I think is absolutely necessary to get a great view into your longevity future. Non-invasive. Simple to test. And results of the test can be seen quickly afterwards.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VAGUS

The Heart Rate Variability test has the ability to measure the VAGUS NERVE. The vagus is a cranial nerve, in that it starts from inside your skull, and amazingly, innervates every major organ all the way down to the rectum.  "The vagus nerve is distinct from other cranial nerves as it is a key component of the autonomic nervous system, regulating various involuntary functions in the body. It extends beyond the brain and spinal cord, influencing organs like the heart and digestive system. Its widespread impact on bodily functions makes it a critical nerve in maintaining homeostasis."

WRITINGS

I could go on an even longer diatribe into the numbers of articles written on Heart Rate Variability and Longevity, but I will leave a few here for you, and the title. Please take a look at the articles. They are quite interesting to find a test that can reveal so much about YOU.
